The Dutch Tulip Bubble of 1637
The later part of the 20th century saw its share of odd financial bubbles. There was the real-estate bubble, the stock market bubbles, and the dot com bubble, just to name a few. In each instance of price inflation people paid exorbitant amounts for things that shouldn’t have been worth anything like the going price. And each time people stood around afterwards and said “What were we thinking?”
One has to believe that the same thought occurred to the Dutch in the 17th century when they settled down after their bout with tulipomania, wherein the humble tulip bulb began to sell for prices to make New York Realtors blanch.
As much as the tulip is associated with Holland, it is not native there. Rather it was introduced in 1593 by a botanist named Carolus Clusius, who brought it from Constantinople. He planted a small garden, intending to research the plant for medicinal purposes. Had Clusius’s neighbors been morally upright, the tulip might still be a rare exotic in the gardening world. Instead they broke into his garden and stole some of his bulbs in order to make some quick money, and in the process started the Dutch bulb trade

I have an interesting Thought that I do believe may help keep the establishment under control in politics. I suggest that when a person leaves politics they can not be allowed to have a job in media. To have politics controlling narratives like they do is a cancer to our freedoms.. This will not solve the problems we have , but I do think it would help. I had this thought and I figured I would put it in your heads to think on and maybe spread to other sites.
where do you think the media gets most of its information Kevin? Directly from politicians who are currently in office. They use the ex-politicians to decode and filter that information. It is the same information only filtered to how the media outlet wants to spin the story. A liberal outlet will use paid liberal x politicians and a conservative outlet will use a conservative x politicians. If you take the x politicians out, the media will just spin the story anyway they want. Having x politician's opinions just gives the media outlet credibility that they are seeking experts on the subject. This also includes when the media uses retired military as experts on military strategy or foreign policy. They can only be experts if they were part of the developing story.
Jack, I am not saying they could not have them as guests, I am talking about the likes of Joe whats his name from msnbc morning show. or Dana from the 5. Or Huckabee when he did a fox show, knowing he was going to run for POTUS.
Your idea does have merit, however, these former political members will find a way to control narrative - even without being an announcer. Pushing for term limits, I wonder if even that would work. I'd love to see it done, and hope that we don't discover situations like what we have right now - the wife, (or husband) running for that same position. Just like rumors abound that Michelle would be running for a Congressional place, then later run for President. Hillary as President is bad enough, but Micelle Obama? Rats, no, no, no!!!
This also gives me a thought about the FDA - why are we even considering former pharmaceutical Executives being allowed to take over the FDA. Smells like elephant manure to me.
So they have knowledge, really? HUMMMMMMMMM. .
Fox had no idea Huckabee was going to run for president again when they gave him his show, Dana was not an elected official and Joe on MSNBC wa once a house representative but that was years before he ended up having his show.
I thought that would interest some.
EU antitrust regulators have ordered Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) to pay up to €13B ($14.5B) in taxes to the Irish government after ruling that a special scheme to route profits through the country was illegal state aid. "In fact, this selective treatment allowed Apple to pay an effective corporate tax rate of 1% on its European profits in 2003 down to 0.005% in 2014," Commissioner Margrethe Vestager declared. Apple and Ireland said they would appeal the decision. AAPL -2.7% premarket.
England has already invited Apple to move in with them.
