Lets list differences in stated beliefs between Conservatives and Liberals

Elitist/Libels. Being the heirs to the old time barons and european royalty they began thinking that only they could correctly decide what justice was, how to properly dispense it, and without them having a firm hand on society's controls there would be anarchy. They thought and still do that the peasants (that's us average working stiffs) would be a thousand times less likely to properly govern ourselves.
>
Conservatives know by experience they can properly govern themselves far far better than the Elitists can.
>
Elitist/Liberals try by mass education gauged to the lowest common denominator for what they call social justice sakes have failed to educate the masses into pseudo intelligent beings that could raise their heads as high as the Elitist/Liberals. That is the audacity and arrogance of that class of rulers. They ignore the spark of ability in the peasants and take their ideas for themselves.
>
Conservatives take education seriously because they know about the pitfalls of not knowing real history and strive to teach their young how to think through a problem.
>
Elitist/Liberals believe that the common man can slop some artist colors on a canvass and call it art. They also believe that a container with a crucifix in it and filled with urine is art too. What happens when some liberal trained person writes a lot of disconnected tripe and nonsense on a piece of perfectly good paper thereby ruining it. They Laud them as poets.
>
Conservatives know a load of crap before they smell it, same goes for artsy fartsy crap.
>
The most basic difference between Elitist/Liberals is;
The Elitist Liberal professes that every human being has a right to respect, dignity and all material things equally distributed among the populace despite not doing anything to earn the rights, because by being a human being they deserve them and society owes them to the people gratis.
>
Conservatives live in the real world and know there ain't no such thing as a free lunch. Someone has to pay.
>
Elitist/Liberals believe they themselves, solely by dint of their superior standing, superior brainpower, self anointed 'Benefactor to Mankind' status, deserve even more of the "Equally Distributed" equality factors than the lesser breeds they have decided to think for.
>
Conservatives know and believe that a man only deserves what he has earned and should have a right to keep what he earns without the Elitist/Liberals demanding he give a portion of it away to others who have not done anything to earn something.
>
How come when it's a Government using violence (Force of Law w/punishment for non-compliance) to take away what was rightfully earned by an individual it's called basically a necessary Social Justice device to redistribute the wealth fairly, when a person using violence to take from an individual what was rightfully earned by that individual, it's called Theft?

Elitists/ Liberals believe in individuals, devoid of personal sovereignty, forming a collective

Conservatives believe in individuals with personal sovereignty and rights, forming a collective

Good one Ozzie

This video shows up a lot of differences spectacularly;

Conservatism, since Antiquity, is a body of attitudes, behaviors, impulses and sentiments regarding human nature which is neither derived from or dependent on ideology, politics or religion. Rather than beliefs which are grounded in faith; it is set of principles among them:

* The existence of an enduring moral order governing Man derivative of the Natural Law whose truths are eternal.

* The Family unit is the bedrock and foundation of the social order of culture and society.

* We are mere dwarfs who see as far as we do, only because we stand of the massive shoulders of the Giants of Antiquity.

* Man is neither a perfectible creature in this life nor is paradise, an other worldly dimension, possible on this earth.

There are additional principles, depending on whether one prefers Aristotle, Ockham, Locke, Burke; among many great minds.

Charles,

I like how you show just how bad Hillary is for the Nation with one picture worth ten essays.

Thank You Thomas,

That is a really good juxtaposition between Liberal and Conservative and is easily understandable. Please add more if you want to.

M

Thank you for this article. It is excellent.

M, it is very hard for me to even consider the differences - for me the Conservative is in the heart and soul of someone who believes in God, who believes that every person has the right to be free and to also respect others rights. Freedom comes at a cost - the cost being respecting others rights, but still hold fast their own beliefs and their rights. Our Constitution tried to do that and for the most part,. it has. Only when others decide their rights are more important, and are given the OK by those who have usurped the power of our government, do we find our beliefs challenged.  So guess I've answered that other part - liberals believe their rights give them oversight on our use of the Constitutional rights.

While you mean well, Principled Conservatism from Pericles and Solon forward is anchored by the Natural Law.

Belief in the Almighty is an other worldly consideration, and irrelevant.

Nor does the mantra of freedom (liberte'); a nostrum of the French Enlightenment have anything to do w/it.

That is what I was trying to intimate - heart & soul, natural law of the individual. And for most, that includes their believe in God. Have same problem with Hubby, he and I most always have the same thoughts  but  our expressions  almost always have to be ironed out - wrinkles in our thinking, I believe.

Thomas,

I understand what you are saying about Principled Conservatism. Natural Law and Natures God must have played a part in it on the morality aspect even if only as an enhancer/enforcer concept. Today the fact that various belief systems are once again actively and passionately interacting with the politics of human interactions, and by doing so they leave their marks on the modern Conservative/Liberal debates.
